Bio

Adja is a filmmaker, photographer, and educator based in the Twin Cities. Her work explores the relationships between land, memory, and identity, centering Black, Indigenous, communities of color, and working class people through quiet, intimate, and historically resonant storytelling.

Grounded in a background in grassroots movements, her practice is deeply relational and process-driven, rooted in trust, care, and accountability. Adja approaches storytelling as a form of reciprocity, creating work that emerges through sustained engagement and reflects lived experience.

Her work has been featured in MTV/Paramount, Spotify, Al Jazeera, PBS, The Guardian, Business Insider, and Fusion.

In addition to her creative practice, she is committed to living in ways that resist oppression and sustain long-term well-being, including the ongoing work of becoming a healthy elder.
